1970 Ford Mustang Convertible

The Mustang name, of course, was born with this car, allegedly because aviation enthusiast and Ford Executive Stylist John Najjar Ferzely felt the car resembled a P-51 Mustang airplane. An alternate name-origin story suggests that designer Philip Clark came up with it in reference to the wild horses he saw on a cross-country trip. The horse angle, as opposed to the plane angle, is the one that stuck in the end.

For consignment, and your enjoyment, this 1970 Mustang convertible, stated as all metal with its original power top. A well maintained version that you can hop into and turn the key and the fun begins immediately...without even turning a wrench!

Exterior
A pastel yellow respray around 9 years ago covers the exterior and is dotted with a flat black hood scoop. The original convertible top is in good condition and drops and raises via a switch…effortlessly! Consigner states a new front bumper, grille, tail light bezels, hood scoop, mirrors and badges.

Interior
Recovered seats, front buckets and rear bench, look showroom new. Also, a new dash has been installed, and again its presenting as showroom condition. Carpeting has a bit of fade, but otherwise nice. A new AM/FM radio was put in, and original steering wheel fronts the new dash.

Drivetrain
Signs of dust and patina shows up under the hood but the original 200ci inline 6 sits proudly in the engine bay. This is backed by an automatic transmission.

Undercarriage
Some surface rust and rust through can be seen on the front of the floorpans, with various layers of metal, bondo, and undercoating de-laminating. This same phenomenon is seen on the rocker panels in a small section on each side. A new power steering rack has been installed, and all brakes, hoses and brake lines have been inspected, and replaced as needed. A once over of the whole drivetrain with needed service was performed recently as well.

Not a Mach 1, not a Boss 302, not a Boss Snake, just the everyday man's car that wants to drive a classic without all the puff and show (and expense) of the other models. Options are nice, but there is something to be said about a car that was essentially the meat of the 1970's sales, Just a Mustang! A once over with paint, and new seat upholstery, dash, and mechanical fixes, we have a fairly solid driver and enjoyment producer.
