If you talk to a car enthusiast about the Ford Mustang, you'll get a few nods of appreciation. When you talk to anyone about the Shelby Mustang, you're going to see some jaws drop and maybe even hear some low whistles. The Mustang is an American icon. The Shelby is an American legend. The Shelby isn't a car people dream about owning — it's a car people dream about seeing in person.

For consignment and your visual, auditory, and seat of your pants enjoyment, a 2008 Mustang Shelby GT500 in droptop form. So named because you can expect the output of the engine to be 500hp, but that was when this number 130 of 241 with the red appearance package and number 66 of 131 with the red package in black was stock. It's far from stock now with a myriad of tasteful bolt ons and a tune that ups the ante from a tire shredding 500hp to an earth rotating 636hp at the tires. Purchased new by our consignor's father on 2-25-2008 at Hopkins Ford and passed onto our consignor in November 2017. Now it's time to pass along this 1 of 682 black venomous snake to a new home to be fully enjoyed.

Exterior
A proven but not abused 76,727 original verified miles, renders this 14 year old muscle car in near showroom condition. Dipped (not literally) in Ebony clearcoat, then slap (not literally) on some unique GT500 badging, painted red stripes from the lower front bumper over the hood to the rear deck spoiler, and you are looking racy. This legendary car has a drop top in black cloth, and it moves up and down flawlessly via a switch. The side and rear glass has been tinted with a ceramic tint to accentuate the sinister look. Body panels are razor straight and have very consistent gaps. Up front is the air extractor aluminum hood, body integrated headlights, and fog lamps, all of which are highlighted by the Shelby specific semi oval snake badged grille. Quad 18 x 9.5 bright machined aluminum wheels, and red GT 500 rocker stripe that stretches between them on both sides frame the lower sections of this modern muscle machine, now you are in Shelby heaven...I'm snake bitten!
Interior
A swing open of the doors will reveal a pair of sport buckets in black leather and red tuck and roll inserts. Some power movement seat options mixed with manual options, and you'll get it “just right” baby bear. Look in the back and you'll note 2 extra seats in the 2 plus 2 formats, in other words 2 more butt grabbers for the audience that will witness the speed show. A basket style light bar has been installed which gives a great look with the top down. “Round” would be the theme on the dash with round gauges called “light-toned” and including a boost gauge AKA the ass kicker gauge. Air-conditioning emanating of course from round ball style vents and a Shaker 500 Audio system with AM/FM/CDx6 and MP3 Capabilities. Drop the top, crank the tunes, and hit the loud pedal…now you are shakkin!

Drivetrain
Under the heat extractor hood with Ford installed hood lifts lies a 5.4 Liter DOHC 4V supercharged V8 with fuel injection for the fossil burning. A mere 500hp wasn't enough for our consignor and his father, so the wick was turned up just a bit with a cold air intake and a JLT tune package which now produces 636hp and 537 lb/ft of torque. All this power blows back the power to a 6-speed TR6060 manual tranny and Ford 8.8 inch 3.31 TracLok axle. Now you are rollin!

Undercarriage
Showroom condition visually and structurally with a lowering kit installed for the independent coil spring front suspension and 3 link with panhard bar and coil spring rear suspension. Roush lower control arms have been installed as well as a Roush anti wheel hop bracket on the rear axle. Brembo high performance disc brakes are on the front and rear, and full-on ABS and traction control for when you feel a little goosey with the boost in the wet. A dual exhaust system with a Ford Racing cat-back muffler set up is on for your auditory pleasure and we note a 1-piece aluminum driveshaft. Now you're thinkkin…
