Description

Cruisin Classics is proud to present this stunning 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle LS6! The authenticity of this Chevelle comes from known ownership and includes the original GM Protect-O-Plate, original window sticker, partial build sheet, certification by Rick Nelson of Muscle Car Restoration and Design and the car is listed in the International LS6 Registry. It retains it's all original born with drivetrain and body panels and has been driven approximately 15,500 total miles since new and less than 20 miles since its restoration.

The first thing that is going to attract you to this car is the factory-correct Forest Green paint job and matching dark green vinyl interior. The level of detail that went into this restoration shows when you first lay eyes on the car. The amount of gloss and depth this paint job has in person is unmatched compared to your average restoration. The inside tells the same story. It feels as if this car has never even been driven and shows no signs of wear and tear throughout which should be expected on a vehicle of this caliber. It even smells new inside!

The LS6 engine was the largest displacement and most powerful engine ever in a Chevelle, and its factory rating of 450 HP at 5,600 RPM and 500 lb-ft of torque at 3,600 RPM the highest ever in a factory muscle car era production vehicle. Casting or manufacturing dates have been confirmed and accessories such as carburetor, starter, distributor, water and fuel pumps, smog system, pulleys, fan and brake components have remained with the car since new. The highest quality correct reproduction items used during the restoration include engine and front light wiring harnesses and valve covers manufactured by Crane Corvette. Although the voltage regulator is correct for the vehicle, a May 1970 manufacturing date leads to the conclusion that it had been replaced prior to Rick's restoration. Most may not concern themselves with this level of detail – but it does provide insight into the level of originality and painstaking efforts that went into this restoration.

Rick Nelson is recognized as a Chevelle expert and a top restorer with an emphasis on the LS6 Chevelle. This car was brought to Rick by a previous owner who believed the car to be a survivor. Based on Rick's multi-day inspection, he determined that some prior restoration work was performed and that the car would not qualify for Vintage Certification. The owner then commissioned Rick and his team to do a complete comprehensive restoration. This was a no-expense-spared restoration where every part of the vehicle was disassembled, cleaned and restored. Hundreds of pictures are available to document the process and the final result.

As many enthusiasts are aware, a 1970 Chevelle LS6 could have been built in one of six GM Plants. Each plant had its own "quirks," including the typical location where build sheets are found, the color and extend of body primer and the levels of overspray. This Chevelle was assembled in the Arlington, Texas Plant which was the only Chevelle plant that dip primed their bodies, so every square inch was covered in Red Oxide unless air bubbles inhibited that from happening. Relevant? It is when you complete the highest level of restoration possible. Once again, pictures are available to detail the steps taken to ensure the vehicle represents the way this Arlington car looked on day one of its life!

The offering price may not be for the faint of heart. But those discriminating collectors understand the market and the expense associated with bringing a car up to this level.
