Admit it, you've been looking enviously at cars just like this at all the cruise nights and car shows for years, haven't you? Somehow big block Chevelles speak to almost everyone, with their ideal combination of brute power, comfort, and stylish good looks. This incredibly cool 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle is exactly the kind of car that populates those local shows and that you hear hammering down the road late at night. Isn't it time you started joining in on the fun?

Everybody seems to have a red or black Chevelle, but this one dressed in gorgeous, period-perfect Fathom Blue paint really stands out and makes its presence felt with authority. Especially when paired with the painted-on white SS stripes, a timeless color combination that gives the brutal big block Chevelle a high-performance look, so you had better forget about keeping a low profile when you're out on the road. The paint on this one is quite good, coupled with great panel alignment, excellent gaps, and attention to detail that says it was more than just a quickie job. Strong driver-quality finishes like this one are the best of both worlds: Nice enough to show off with great pride, but not so perfect that you're scared to ever take it down the road. The white SS stripes are mandatory on a car like this, and they've been blended in under the clear for a seamless look that will last forever. A functioning cowl induction hood with hood pins gives it that aggressive look that you've always admired, while the SS badges and emblems let everyone know this isn't some average grocery-getter. Shiny chrome provides good contrast to the blue paint, with the big bumpers fore and aft serving as bookends for the aggressive A-body, and wheel arch and drip rail brightwork emphasizing the car's sexy curves.

The handsome black vinyl interior has been nicely refreshed for a period-correct factory look, including comfortable bucket seats, plush black carpets, and reproduction SS-style door panels that all work to make it an inviting, comfortable place to do the serious business of driving. A factory center console splits the front seats and houses the cue-ball topped chrome shifter that manages the 5-speed manual transmission below, a look that shouts high performance in every way. Factory SS-spec gauges are in place inside a factory bezel (including a stock tachometer), and a duo of auxiliary units were added just below the dash to help keep an eye on the organized violence underneath the hood. Judging by the look of the dash, this was in all likelihood a factory A/C car when it was born, and even though that original equipment is no longer in place an aftermarket unit could easily be installed to work with the factory controls and vents. This Chevelle was built for one main purpose, to go FAST, so amenities are not plentiful, although you do get a modern AM/FM/CD/AUX head unit in case you want to add some tunes over the sound of the wide-open throttle and spinning tires. That 3-spoke steering wheel is ready to handle any white-knuckle action you can throw at it, and it's been mounted atop a tilt wheel that makes the cockpit feel much roomier. The dash pad is in great shape and free of cracks, the black carpets below are plush, the black headliner above is taut, and the matching back seat provides ample room for three of your friends. Out back, the spacious trunk has been finished with black spatter paint and has enough room to accommodate most travel plans.

Powering this '70 Chevelle is a thumping 454 cubic inch big block V8 that's ready to fight with anyone, anytime, and anywhere. And it's probably going to win. Augmented with Edelbrock aluminum air-gap intake, a big Holley carb, aluminum heads, and long-tube headers, so ait's obviously been armed for battle, and it immediately sparks to life thanks to a full HEI ignition system and modern alternator. The cowl induction hood feeds the chrome open-element air cleaner and the entire build has a slick look to it that's very appealing, right down to the shiny inner fenders, polished aluminum valve covers, and big aluminum radiator. Long-tube headers add a few extra ponies and definitely bolster the big block's robust torque curve, and the soundtrack is fantastic thanks to the X-pipe dual exhaust system and Flowmaster mufflers underneath. Twist the key, warm it up, and try to restrain a goofy grin while it settles into an easy idle (I know our sales guys couldn't help being giddy once this monster started its lopey cackle), and because the throttle response is 'right now' quick through every gear, there won't be many vintage cars that can beat you on the roll. The 5-speed manual transmission is simply a wonderful upgrade that maximizes the output of the big block and allows for highway cruising as it spins the heavy-duty 12-bolt rear end out back. Underneath, the chassis was fully detailed and painted satin black so it's extremely clean, featuring beefy shocks, springs, upgraded sway bars fore and aft, and a much-welcomed power steering and power front disc brake system that's led with drilled and slotted rotors up front. 14-inch SS Mag wheels perfectly complement the bodywork and wear a set of 225/70/14 front and 225/75/14 rear white-letter radials that finish the killer look.
