Description

2006 Ford Mustang GT

When introduced at the 1964 World's Fair, the Ford Mustang began the era of the “pony car”. Named not for its title “Mustang” but for ushering in a class of American Muscle cars, that were affordable sporty coupes with long hoods, and short rear decks. Wildly popular, the Mustang design flew off the showroom floors. Even today current models make use of the running horse emblem that has stayed with the car for 55 years.

Attention!!! Powerful car now in front of your eyes with this '06 Ford Mustang GT. This beauty pumps out more horses than when it left the factory thanks to a supercharger from Procharger and looked even better with a full GT500 body kit. Hold tight as it accelerates like a Space-X rocket launching, and as you go through the 5-speed it just gets better and better. A wild pony for sure tamed only by its comfortable leather interior, lowered suspension, SCT handheld tuner, and great sounding exhaust. You have been warned, and after reading this description, it will self-destruct within 10 seconds….wait for it…wait….! OH read first!

Exterior
Bathed in Redfire Metallic for this flexing muscle, Ford went all out for the design. Reminiscent of the early models it just looks beefier, and more refined on the line aspect. The front of the car is more “aero” designed, and has an integrated body matching GT500 style bumper with satin black chin spoilers and blackened honeycomb grille sans galloping pony or hissing snake. Just above the grille is an added heat extractor hood courtesy of a GT500 that has been color matched to perfection. Side steel panels are very nice with well minded gaps, the front quarters have an “air vent”, and the door keeps the hockey stick cove Mustang is well known for. On the front fenders is the GT emblem and just below a "supercharged" emblem, on the back is a small spoiler. The duo of trio taillights harkens back to the first model, and are now larger and flattened, but still reminiscent of past generations. Dual exhaust peek out of the lower bumper and black 5 spoke 19-inch Rovos wheels are wrapped by nice staggered blackwall rubber all around. These blackened wheels are a beautiful contrast to the Redfire that bathes this car all over.

Interior
Nice simple door panels utilize molded plastic in parchment with Coverlay inserts in dark charcoal and a tasteful touch of thin trimming along with power window toggles, power lock switches and some woofers and tweeters. Inside we can see the glow from the dash on the beautiful parchment high-backed leather buckets with even higher headrests. You will need it as when you smash the accelerator it will snap your head back and press yourself firmly into these power seats. In back are 2 plus 2 buckets/bench seats and these are also very nice. A center console runs through the buckets and houses the shifter, cup holders, parking brake handle and glovebox. As it rises to the dash center we note the heat/AC controls along with a Shaker 500 AM/FM/CD stereo. On top is the black padded dash and a faux brushed aluminum dash front with 2 large round deep set gauges, (again reminiscent of days of yore), with a central huge cluster, all analog save for the digital odometer readouts. Clean parchment carpet with black rubber Mustang logoed floor mats are down low and a felt fuzzy headliner is tight and clean above.

Drivetrain
The 4.6-liter 3 Valve V8 engine is lurking under the hood and has an intercooled Procharger P1SC supercharger with a 8.5lb pulley bolted on. Handling the fuel and air delivery are 60lb/hr injectors, a GT500 twin fuel pump set up, and a Diablosport MAFia. We also note JLT 3.0 oil separators and CDC hood lifts. Sending power to the rear axle is a Tremec 3650 5-speed manual and putting the power to the ground is an 8.8" Ford assembly with 4.10 gears.

Undercarriage
Clean, Mean, and Pristine, with all the latest tech to keep you rubber to road. Independent coil spring suspension works in partnership with a 3 link with Panhard bar rear suspension to handle all the launches and curvy back roads you can throw at it. The springs are of the FRPP lowering variety and the panhard bar is courtesy of C&L and is adjustable. 4-wheel power disc brakes provide the whoa factor and a dual exhaust system with Saleen mufflers and Pypes resonators belts out the melodious exhaust tunes. Our consignor informed us that he is including a new mid pipe with high flow catalytic converters so you can remain emission compliant.

Drive-Ability
Our muscle car crack decoder took this baby out to the track and he had an absolute ball. I did not think he was going to return, but alas he did and reported with a grin it performed great and is all buttoned up on the drive-ability front. All working, and all fast.
A tastefully modified Mustang GT, now sporting a full GT500 body kit, numerous engine upgrades, and some nice suspension work to bring the whole package to a better level on all fronts than what rolled off the assembly line. All the killer performance of a GT500 without the nuisance of the extra cost, waiting patiently in our Hallowed Halls for its next caregiver. Are you the one ready to pony up?
