“Franken Ford”
From 1978 through 1993 Ford built the Mustang on the Fox platform and is commonly referred to as the Fox Body Mustang. It went through some changes with a couple facelifts and power train configurations from naturally aspirated 4-cylinders to the saught after 302 5.0 Liter V8. It also offered a couple different variants of a turbo charged 4-cylinder variant. The Mustang was built in both the US and Mexico. Today the Fox Body has become increasingly collectable and also used amongst racing enthusiasts. The cars were relatively light, they had a good weight ratio front to back and had good suspensions out of the box. Well, what we have here is a little bit of a mixed bag. Back in 1995 the car was purchased from the original owner by a Ford engineer and his son, they swapped out the 2.3 liter that came in the car with a Thuderbird 2.3 Liter turbo engine and then swapped the Turbo with a larger Saab Turbo from around the same era. The car was tweaked and used sparingly up until around ten years ago. This car is not going to win any beauty contests but surprisingly this thing is solid. with the exception of a small area of surface rust in the passenger side door jam, the only other surface rust is underneath but not bad at all. In fact, I would place a wager that this car has never been driven in the winter. Body is faded, engine compartment could use some wiring cleaned up but the interior is nice for the age, all lights and gauges work even the after market ones. power windows work, radio etc.. The car also had a 4-wheel disc brake conversion from a SVO as well as SVO wheels, exhaust and adjustable Koni shocks. After driving it I notice it also has a more aggressive cluth. The car starts nicely, idles good and drives down the road. I do not have a lot of time spent with these 2.3 cars and its hard to say if its 100% dialed in. I have not taken it out and put it through its paces because I don't know much about the build. this would make a great car to dial in or a good car to do a V8 swap. Its solid . I also found the original sales invoice and dealer paperwork from new. Priced to sell
