“The difference is clear: the drop-top (Mustang) GT500 feels wild and untamed, whereas the ZL1 is a complete and well-sorted package.” – Automobile Magazine review, January 2013

The Automobile Magazine writer, Jake Holmes, explained: “The difference is immediate as soon as you turn the Camaro's key. The big V-8 and supercharger take a few seconds to crank, but as soon as the engine has settled into a loping idle and you're ready to drive, the ZL1 proves more tractable and user-friendly than the over-engineered Shelby GT500. The ZL1 clutch and transmission are as easy-to-finesse as those in any other Camaro, and the ride is relatively gentle unless you put the adaptive dampers in Sport mode. The biggest difference comes with regard to structural rigidity: while the stiffly sprung Ford's body flops and wanders over broken roads, the ZL1 convertible barely shakes any more than a coupe.”

“When you do have the opportunity to open the taps and hear the supercharger whine, the Camaro feels much more exhilarating than the Mustang. There's a huge surge of torque, a furious bellow from the exhaust, and acceleration that pins you in your seat. The Shelby GT500 is just as quick, of course, but it feels so wild and unruly that you're terrified of being flung into the nearest solid object. The Camaro ZL1 convertible, by contrast, is surprisingly composed when you drive quickly.”

Offered here is a 2013 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 in “quadruple black”—fabric top, interior, exterior body paint, and wheels, all black. The car's current 17,758 mileage, fewer than 2,000 miles per-year on average, combined with its 6-speed manual transmission, mesmerizing color combination, and excellent overall condition. Not to mention the power. The only hiccup on its Carfax history was caused by a deer's impact six years ago. The damage—to-the car, not the deer—was professionally repaired at the time. No sign of the repairs or the damage remains.

The ZL1's exterior black paint retains near-showroom-new condition. There is a somewhat sinister vibe to the car's presence: only the gold front and rear bowtie emblems, small “Camaro” front-fender badges, and the red-highlighted “ZL1” rear emblem break the all-black look. There are no dings, dents, or other blemishes, including on the front valance and spoiler. (To best assess the quality of the paint and trim finishes, be sure to view the close-up photographs of the car in the accompanying gallery.) In addition to being black, the power-operated fabric convertible top (with heated rear window) is also free of imperfections or wear indications. All lighting lenses are pristine, as is the cabin glass. The gloss-black-painted, “Camaro”-embossed, 20-inch, 10-spoke factory wheels are mounted with GoodYear® 285/35ZR Eagle F1 performance tires. Through gaps in the wheels, the ZL1-branded black brake calipers and oversize rotors are visible.

Inside, the Camaro's blackness continues. Red-stitched black-leather seat upholstery front and rear--with Alcantara® center inserts--is echoed with the same two materials on the dashboard. Headrests on the high-back front seats feature ZL1-embroidered logos. Handsome door trim includes a high-gloss black panel in a stylized design, as well as stereo speakers. Black cabin carpeting—protected by all-weather floor trays—is in excellent condition. A bowtie-branded, 4-spoke, red-stitched, black leather steering wheel frames the driver-focused, Camaro-heritage-style instrument cluster. Engine-monitoring gauges are located on the forward end of the console beneath the HVAC controls and the large infotainment screen. The shift lever for the highly desirable 6-speed manual transmission is mounted on the console. The shifter's leather boot echoes the red stitching.

The car's trunk appears brand-new.

Under the hood (and a handsome red engine cover and silver shock-tower brace) is the heart of the ZL1: a 6.2-liter, 580-horsepower, supercharged LSA V8. A CAI cold-air induction system is properly mounted. The engine bay is spotless; all components are properly in place. Viewed from below, the chassis is similarly clean and free of any damage whatsoever. The performance, dual-exhaust system is a visual focal point.

While the more than 155 high-definition photographs and the short walk-around-and-startup video available on the GarageKeptMotors website showcase this '13 Camaro ZL1 in detail from every angle, including from below, we expect and encourage in-person inspections at our Grand Rapids, Michigan showroom. Please call to arrange an appointment in advance as our showroom is not open to the public. And feel free to get in touch anytime by phone or email if you have questions.

This ZL1 is a rare beast… sinister-looking, powerful as all get-out, and in first-class condition. Someone is going to be very pleased to have it in their stable. And absolutely delighted when they take it out on the road.
