2002 Pontiac Trans Am
In 2002, the WS6 Trans Am rolled off production lines with 325-horsepower achieving 0-60 in under five-seconds. But depending on an owner's budget, this car is fully capable of producing over 500-horsepower and 600 lb.-ft. of torque. There are even insane twin-turbo 1,000-horsepower examples. Talk about a grand crescendo for the nameplate!
For consignment originally from our friends up north in the St. Therese, Canada assembly plant, this sculpted, aerodynamic T-topped muscle car. With its extremely low original miles, the WS6 version has a mere 10,250 on the clock. A consignor stated original car with new tires, a new battery, new fluids, and all in showroom condition.
Exterior
All dressed up in bright red, from the 2 bumps at the front of the fenders that magically turn into headlights, to the Ram Air intake cowling hood flanked by 2 front fender bumps, and more intake inlets on the quarter panels, to the severely raked windscreen, to the rear trunk lid that seems to go on forever as it becomes an integrated spoiler. All in nice condition, and an available T-top setup comes with this car. Special upgraded factory WS6 wheels are seen on all 4's.
Interior
Ebony leather covers the two front power buckets, the rear 2 plus 2 bench, and steering wheel, as well as the Hurst gear shift. Leather is soft and supple and shows only minor bolster wear on the driver's side. There is a 6-way power seats on the driver's side and 4-way on the passenger. A swooping center console is flanked by the buckets and makes its way to the dash while including a glove box/armrest, cup holder, gearshift, climate controls, and a Monsoon AM/FM/CD changer in the hatch with equalizer. The normal cluster instruments are clean and bright. Nice matching ebony carpet floods the floor.
Drivetrain
A 350ci LS1 V8 is found within the engine bay and is electronically fuel injected. The T56 6-speed manual transmission is bolted to the back, and these in combination make use of the 10-bolt 3.42 rear axle ratio and posi-traction and this in turn allows the tires to spin and make the black marks on the pavement!
Undercarriage
The undercarriage is showroom with no dirt or scratched paint. Power front and rear disc brakes are on all the corners, and this car comes equipped with electronic traction control. Independent coil springs on the front and a torque arm with coil springs on the rear provide the ride.
Drive-Ability
This car started right up, and even smells new! Smooth shifting, nice power and great ride as well as interior comfort. One gets the feeling of driving a piece of sculpture with all the inlets and curved cowlings etc. Overall a great driver like new (and it almost is!). We did note the check engine light was on during our test drive which needs to be addressed.
A very low mileage well cared for example of the modern style Trans Am. Aerodynamically designed and performance enhanced to be reliably driven, hassle free. Press the button, open up the top panels and make some marks on the pavement!
